Almodóvar Castle

The Almodóvar castle was once ago a long lost splendour but now thanks to the total restoration, it is seen as one of the finest fortresses in all of Spain. Before arriving to the Castle with the Comenius group, there were a lot of preparations that had needed to be made. Loles, Inma and Shelby visited the Almodóvar castle beforehand and then Shelby, one of the English Language assistants, researched the history of the castle and the former kings and owners and prepared a guided tour for the Comenius group and the tourism students.

In the late morning, the Comenius group along with the Tourism class hiked up the hill, Cerro de la Floresta and began the guided tour of the wonderful Almodóvar castle. Shelby informed the group of the history and architecture of the Almodóvar castle as the group strolled through the grand fortress. The Castle takes you back to the 14th century with the medieval décor and the traditional music playing in the background. The aroma of hinojo filled the castle creating an enchanting ambient. After the guided tour, they walked down into the town of Almodóvar and ate lunch in a typical Spanish restaurant. It was a beautiful afternoon and everyone enjoyed the splendour of the Almodóvar Castle and the delicious Spanish cuisine.
